Customer Experience Improvement Program

We have created the 360 customer experience improvement program with the goal of improving the user experience through analysis of statistical product usage data. By analyzing these statistics, 360 can improve the quality of products and services for our users. 360 only collects statistics relating to the function and performance of our products, and no personal data will be collected when collecting or analyzing this data. Participation in the program is voluntary, and you can choose whether to join the customer experience improvement program at the time you install 360 Total Security (the "Software"). If the Software is already installed on your device, you can also join the customer experience improvement plan by changing your preferences by visiting the "Settings" menu.

We collect statistical data for the following reasons (and in the following ways):

Use of Product Features

To better respond to the needs of our users we strive to add and improve the functionality of our products. Collecting data on the number of users currently using the Software (and its functions) helps us to decide which functions to invest in and improve upon.

When you use a specific function of the Software, the name and unique identifier of this function will be reported to the 360 Security Center. These statistics are kept on a server, and the statistics gathered are based on the number of application visits to one specific web page on the server.

Improving the quality of the Products

When using the Software, there can be abnormalities or unexpected exceptions from how the Software should run. Also, the antivirus functions are provided via 360 Cloud servers. To improve the quality of cloud service among the world we will collect the statistics of server connections.

By analyzing these statistics, 360 can improve the product and fix any bugs or abnormalities as well as optimizing server deployment for better cloud service. For example, when the system restoring function finds a desktop shortcut which directs the user to a URL with unknown security risks, the identifying information of this URL will be sent to the 360 Security Center, but does not contain the user's personal information.

About the quality of cloud service, the statistics includes: number of connections and times they take; the error code from network library when error occurs; the IP address of 360 Cloud server and DNS to locate the server. Those data does not contain the user’s personal information.

Malware scanning and protection statistics

We gather statistical data to better analyze the spread of malware and malware trends and behavioral characteristics. By gathering this data, we are able to create a solution to protect your computer from any new malware and remove it if you are already affected.

When you scan your device for viruses when using the Software, or 360 Real-Time Protection detects, and automatically blocks, a virus, the type of the malware and the unique security code of the application will immediately be sent to the 360 central server. These statistics on the frequency of virus scans and protective actions taken are kept on the 360 central server, and the statistics gathered are based on the number of application visits to one specific web page on the server.

Product Upgrades

360 analyzes our usage statistics, including the total number of users, to better optimize the server and bandwidth allocation. This allows 360 to provide upgrades to the Software when needed, and for users to have a smoother and quicker experience when upgrading the Software.

When you upgrade the Trojan or virus database, the version number and a unique identifier for the application will be reported to 360 Security Center. These statistics on user upgrades are kept on the 360 central server, and the statistics gathered are based on the number of application visits to one specific web page on the server.

Error Log

In the event a program crashes or there is an unexpected error when using the Software, the program automatically generates an error log. The program and error logs generated will be reported to the 360 Security Center, so that we can pinpoint the cause of the error or crash and improve product quality. Due to our rigorous testing before products are released to users, the possibility of errors reported is very low.

An automatic record is loaded when a program crashes or there is an error. This record includes the name of the associated program, as well as the related information relating to the crash or error This information is reported to the 360 Security Center and only contains only the error message data itself, and does not contain any of user's personal data.
